The Spiritual Significance of Lent

The Spiritual Significance of Lent

Lent is the time for trimming the soul and scrapping the sludge off a life turned slipshod. The period is about taking stock of time, even religious time.

Lent is about exercising the control that enables us to say no to ourselves so that when life turns hard of its own accord, we have the stamina to yes to its twists and turns with faith and hope. Lent is the time to make new efforts to be what we say we want to be.
Joan D. Chittister

Catholic Christian Church determines when lent begins. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and extends until Easter. For those of Christian faith, it represents a period of spiritual reflection and purification.

Being a time of introspection, vigilance, confrontation with our fears, limiting beliefs, and fears so that we can transmute them. Lent is also when the Spiritual Plan allows spirits that have not yet reached evolution to be closer to Earth's orbit. So, watch your thoughts and not get into the depressive egregore and or problems that some people project onto others these days.

Fasting and Purification

For 40 days, Jesus fasted and alone also confronted his lower Self and his ego. In the Bible, we find that in this period when Jesus was alone fasting, the "devil" approached him saying: "If you are the Son of God, turn these stones into bread."

We understand that the devil's personification only persists for those who believe in the limit of the ego. With this explanation, it is possible to understand that we have several energies in our minds and that the rational mind is ruled by the ego's power. We are also influenced by our various selves' power: the rational, the unconscious, the subconscious, and of our mind above, the higher Self or conscious mind.
After his ceremonial baptism and upon receiving the Holy Spirit, he went into the wilderness and was tempted; by defeating the snares of the "Evil," he finally took upon his mission.

But what does it mean? That evil really exists and that we must escape from its traps.
But how to avoid evil? Being humorous helps a lot. Jung explained that by acting in this way, good manages to excel at evil.

Joy is a greater power over the opposite angle since it is often not possible to be charitable every day; another excellent alternative is to participate in a spiritually inclined community.

Therefore, what is important is "Living Lent." It means to seize the opportunity to clean your heart from feelings and resentments, to pursue purity, rebirth, and a clean start. One should become more reflective, trying to forgive and reconcile. Turning inwards, the forty days of preparation for Easter Feast.

In this period, try to guard yourself. Stay closer to the divinity of, God and enjoy studying, meditating, and especially forgiving yourself and others. Get stronger to face the challenges of our daily lives.
